Mighty Sparrow

Mighty Sparrow was born on July 9, 1935 as Slinger Francisco in Grandroy Bay, Grenada. Known as "Calypso King of the World" he is one of the most popular and successful Calypso artists. He has won the "Trinidad's Carnival Road March" competition nine times and was named "Calypso Monarch" eight times, more often than anyone else. Sparrow's lyrics are famous for being witty, ironic, and ribald.
