THE COMMODORES

THE COMMODORES

The Commodores are an American band from Detroit that started out with Lionel Richie, William King, Thomas McClary, Ronald LaPread, Milan Williams and Walter Orange. With the songs "Three Times a Lady" (1978) and "Still" (1979) the band reached number 1 each in the pop and R&B charts. In Germany they had their greatest success with the top 10 hit "Nightshift" (1985). In 2003 The Commodores were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. The Commodores primarily stand for soft and balladic songs from the areas of soul as well as Rhythm'n'Blues, although they also have a strong funk sound, especially in the seventies.
