Clavinet D6
The Clavinet D6 is a cult instrument that has become immortalized in funk and soul music and can be heard on countless recordings from the 1970s. Played in a very special way, it gives keyboarders a guitar-like sound. The clavinet is derived from the clavichord and is thus an electro-acoustic mini harpsichord with a manual. The clavinet was invented in 1964 by Ernst Zacharias, it was produced in the late 60s until the 80s by the company Hohner from Trossingen, Germany.
World famous musicians such as Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Lonnie Liston Smith, Steelie Dna, Bill Withers, Billie Preston, the Beatles, Earth Wind & Fire and Michael Jackson are just a few prominent examples of the ingenious use of this instrument.
